Beyond Words: Good Communication is Active. It's about Showing up. You do this and you build a relationship based on trust and reliability.
Recently had an experience with a friend that got me thinking about reliability and trust, both in personal and professional relationships. Despite multiple cancellations citing unforeseen circumstances, I tried to maintain an open mind. But when they canceled last minute again, it became clear that this wasn't just an isolated incident.
While they're still a friend, I've realized I won't be making social plans with them anymore. More importantly, I won't be doing any business with them or referring anyone to them. It's about principle, not personality, but the latter can muddy the waters.
In the past, I used to carry a figurative broom for such situations, ready to sweep the mess under the rug. But I've learned that ignoring such behavior only leads to more frustration. Now, I understand the importance of setting boundaries. Life is a constant lesson, and I'm learning to surround myself with people who are reliable and trustworthy. Because actions truly do speak louder than words.
Broken trust is like shattered glass. Even when it's carefully pieced back together, the cracks remain.
Remember, good communication and leadership require reliability and trustworthiness. When you're dependable, people are more likely to listen to you and follow your lead. Your voice becomes more impactful when backed by consistent actions and integrity.
