Transformative Talks

For the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of coaching entrepreneurs from various chapters of the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO), helping them prepare for one of the most challenging types of talks they’ll ever give—deep, personal, experiential shares. These talks aren’t your typical business presentations. They require courage, as the speakers are asked to show vulnerability in a way they don’t usually have to when speaking to their board, team, or investors. It’s a process of exploration and discovery—finding a story that reflects who they truly are and resonates deeply with the audience. We dig into those transformative moments, the ones that shift them and us simultaneously.

This last month has been especially moving. I’ve been working with EO chapter winners, helping them prepare for the next big step—presenting on even larger stages, to bigger audiences. It’s not about repeating their talk; it’s about leveling up their delivery to match the size of the opportunity ahead, while still holding onto the authenticity and vulnerability that made their original talk so powerful.

Each speaker brings their own unique style to the stage. Some have that naturally energetic spark, while others command attention with calm, steady confidence. But the real beauty lies in how deeply personal and intimate these talks are. My role is to ensure their story stays true to them. It’s all about being authentic, not just polished.

Recently, one of the speakers felt the need to wrap up their talk with a big takeaway like, “I challenge you to...” It started to feel more like an assignment than a real connection. We shifted the focus to a heart-centered close, letting the story speak for itself. The result? It was so moving, I got chills. We both got quiet that first time. That's when you know. Put down the pen - you've hit gold.

Mad respect to these EO members for the depth they’re willing to go. I’m constantly in awe of their courage to be so personal, intimate, and present in front of me and ultimately, a bigger audience.

Here are a few simple strategies we’ve been working on to elevate their delivery:

  • Pacing is your friend – Know when to pick up the tempo and when to slow down for impact.

  • Be real – Don’t just recite; relate. Audiences engage when they feel your passion, not your perfection.

  • Use pauses – Silence can be just as powerful as words. Give your audience time to reflect.

If you’re an entrepreneur, executive, or thought leader ready to refine your speaking style and bring your authentic voice to the stage, let’s connect. I’d love to help you craft a talk that’s as unique, powerful, and courageous as you are.
